Where Flowers Bloom So Does Love Bridal Shower

Note* all photos for this Blog Post by Emily Jean Photography

When my beautiful niece asked me to be her M.O.H not only was I honoured but, my head went into Bridal Shower Event and Planning excitement mode because…

1. “they say” the duties of a M.O.H is to plan and host the Bridal Shower.

       2.  We do it all here! Remember “Our Interior Work is as Versatile as an Egg” like Event Design, Event Planning, Custom Props and Florals.

Where Flowers Bloom So Does Love Bridal Shower

The planning began with a lot of dings on the phone and pics of inspirational ideas! Nowadays, Ideas are flying out of Pinterest and right into Interiors of Homes and Events. Finding the right quote for a chalk board or inspiration for that room makeover has never been so easy! We have found that one of the best ways to work with a client on a project is to set up a private collaborative board on Pinterest. We love using Pinterest for this! Here you can organize inspirational ideas, and pictures of ideas you would like to incorporate as part of your projects, plans, or interior layouts. Whether it’s a Home your renovating or building, or in this case an Event that your planning, it is great to have this Pinterest app to use as a tool. To be honest it is just a tool we use to get the clients creative juices flowing.  It is great to be inspired by others work, but as a Designer and Creative Person it’s better to create your own work. Being inspired by others is fine but, creating and  making things your own is better. A good example of this came when we found ideas for our bridal shower games.  We took these ideas and added our own personal touches to reflect the theme of this event. This definitely helped to make it one of a kind.

The number one way to get the creative juices flowing for ideas especially in the Event world is to come up with a theme or a tag line (a quote in this case), this will set the tone for the Event and the Event Interiors. Here our  tag line was “Where Flowers Bloom So Does Love” this would mean of course, we would use Florals as a major part of the Event.

Then everything else fell into place as we scouted and sourced for all the details…

sourcing outdoor bird cages for the table centre pieces had us driving around like we were in the Indy 500 going from one store location to another. As well as the detail of custom made moss squares which adorned the bird cages, all the fresh and faux florals used throughout, the Chiavari chairs that were blush pink,  …

to the Floral Cake (by Patisserie V. Marie) detail which matched the Event Decor beautifully, as did the custom made desserts by the brides future sister in law that were all displayed on a vintage buffet table.  This dessert table was adorned with fresh Ivy along with our custom dessert chalk board signage.  All these details truly created the feel of a Floral Garden and set the tone for this Bridal Shower Event.

Where Flowers Bloom So Does Love Bridal Shower
Where Flowers Bloom So Does Love Bridal Shower The fact that the Event was going to be held indoors at The Manor by PeterandPauls.com which is a beautiful golf and Events venue gave us a creative challenge in “How to transform the interior space into a Floral Garden oasis?”
Where Flowers Bloom So Does Love Bridal Shower

The pièce de ré·sis·tance was the garden arch set up for guests to walk through as they entered, complete with birds and outdoor sounds playing in the back ground. “Where are the birds” someone asked? Lol, we took care of that detail!

Where Flowers Bloom So Does Love Bridal Shower

Notice that I have been stating “we” in this blog because this beautiful Bride to be was involved every step of the way! (She doesn’t like surprises! Lol) but, she was super surprised to see the outcome of all details and work that went into making this a memorable and fun day!

Wishing her a lifetime of Floral Happiness!

To make your event extra special no detail is too small to be overlooked!

A makeover and the creation of a Super Star themed Tween Bedroom

A makeover and the creation of a Super Star themed Tween Bedroom because after all …

Are we not all Born Super Stars?

As the song goes “My Mama told me when I was young…we were all born Super Stars”-Lady Gaga

Super Star Tween Bedroom Makeover

When it comes down to it Yes! We are!!

By “TRY”ing to Remain Positive, Respectful, and having the Right Attitude toward unforeseen or negative
things that life may bring

will make us all better Super Stars.

O.k. back to the Interior star world and the Super Star Tween Bedroom Makeover that this blog post is about which has a  subtle Super Star infused theme.  It originally began with a desire for a little fun privacy with a big emphasis on a simple, unique, and custom designed/styled bedroom.

Super Star Tween Bedroom Makeover

When it comes to planning any Room Makeover whether it is in a Residential setting, or an Event Setting, having a theme to plan off can make things a lot easier.   It can be a crucial element to making a big statement and helping you pull together a look that will really help define the aesthetics and feel of the space.

The concept of this themed room began with creating a space for a tween that would allow them to have some fun privacy and a custom one of a kind feel.

So, we began by designing and building a free standing chalk painted panel (seen in above pic on far left) that is moveable but, provides a sense of privacy and also allows for a creative outlet.

Super Star Tween Bedroom Makeover

We began with a hollow primed panel which can be bought at your local hardware supply store.

Super Star Tween Bedroom Makeover

Then we painted all sides with a Chalk Paint.  Begin with one side and let cure and then paint out all remaining and let the paint cure for a good 12 hours.

Starting a room with a Fresh Slate is always a good idea. We began by clearing out the space and painted the walls with a fresh coat of paint.  We used White as our primary colour base, it seems to be the trend of colour choice for many these days.  It is also a good solution for those who are not sure what colour they would like to paint their walls with.  It is also a great base for adding colour in other ways.
Super Star Tween Bedroom Makeover

In this particular situation we pick up colour through the accessories; like pillows and rugs. The white paint compliments the room nicely, which was designed and styled to be more simple and Scandinavian in feel. (Scandinavian design is a design movement characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality that emerged in the 1950’s)

I would have to say that the “pièce de rèsistance”(the most important or remarkable feature) is the Mosquito Netting Canopy with strung lights that gives this a WOW Factor  (like all well designed and styled spaces should!).  It might not suit everyone’s tastes or like”s but, the key to Designing and Styling is to make it an individual statement that one can call their own.  As Iris Apfel once said “I like individuality everything is so homogenized these days” I believe Iris would paint these walls a bright red and through lots of glitter and glam ,but for this Super Star Tween Bedroom Makeover the theme was Super Star Simple!

If we are all born Super Stars then we should all fall asleep feeling like one!

Change is Good so make a Lampshade Entrance

Change is Good…

so,why not?

let your Lampshades

make an entrance!

When it comes to most people’s personal life or even their Interior Decor many are resistant to change. Don’t be afraid!  we will only get personal here with changes to your Interiors… disclaimer (other personal changes please consult with a health care professional).

Whether it’s holding on to old passed down family treasures, a favourite wall colour that has been on the living room walls since you bought the place, or the layout of furniture that has been in the same position long enough; that the carpet dents need to visit a dentist for fillings (always add a touch of humour). It’s amazing how most can’t seem to let go and let something new happen.
As Interior Decorators and Stylists we encourage change.  After all, in our books Designers, Decorator, Stagers, and Stylists are encouraged and learn that “Change is Good” otherwise what else would we be doing but having copious amounts of wine sitting in a vineyard under the Tuscan Sun (dream big).
As a youngster watching my Mama move furniture pieces around in a room to give it a new look must have stuck.  I guess that is why I come by it honestly (uh oh I became my Mother).

When working in retail in my former life; changing the layout, merchandise or window displays of a store was always exciting. This always created a buzz of flurry in the stores and customers loved to see what was new. Can you imagine how interested you would be, to go into a store that never changed their Window Displays.

When it comes to residential Interiors I am not saying that guests won’t come over because your Grandma’s floral print couch has not moved from in front of the neon green wall. I am saying how can your Interiors be changed to give you and your guests a more welcoming and friendly environment. An environment that gets you excited about your Grandma’s couch and your home in a new way.

In order for the concept of Interior change to be a successful, one must be open minded,  especially when hiring a professional. Of course, there will be suggestions made that might not be what one thinks it should be.  It doesn’t cost anything to move your Grandma’s floral couch in front of the window.   Move it if you can!, you can always put it back if you will be embarrassed about the neighbours seeing the weathered floral print…this may only mean that now is the perfect time to CHANGE it!
When it comes to choosing colour or key pieces, let the professional guide you in the right direction.   Once again, it might not be what you would choose or how you would do it, but you may not see the whole picture (after all most professionals come with a trained eye and experience).

So, Let’s Make A Lampshade Entrance!

Change is Good so make a Lampshade Entrance

The Visual Pictures say it all!

We can take something plain and simple and add new life to it just by… a simple change and some detailed styling!

Let’s Get Creative with our Patchwork Home Decor Egg Accessories

IMG_3018
Just in time for your Easter and your Spring Interior Decorating!

If you follow us on Instagram you would know that our Profile tag line reads “Our Interior Work is as Versatile as an Egg”

So in keeping with our versatility and the constant battle to be creative in our Interiors, we decided that it is the perfect time of the year to create and recycle something special for your Easter Interior Decorating.

When Spring is the time to spruce up your Interiors and in our part of the world your Exteriors (after a long cold harsh winter), we are giving you a little fun adult craft project (yes, more to do!).  Kids could definitely be  involved in this project as ours were but, we do not recommend small children use HOT glue gun.

Are these Patchwork Home Decor Eggs Versatile? Oh, Yeah!

They add a whimsical touch to any table setting or interior decor setting that you may want to use them in.

The best part is you can custom make them to suit your Interior Style!  (Note* just because it is an Egg doesn’t mean that these are only suited for Easter and Spring Decor remember… Eggs are Versatile!).  Use them all year long in different Interior arrangements and settings.

Are they easy to Make?  Well, you be the judge.

Supplies needed and Simple Instructions enclosed below…

IMG_2983

Firstly, your supplies:

  1. Foam Eggs (found at your local craft store)
  2. Glue (that works with fabric)
  3. Bowl and small paint brush for Glue
  4. Glue Gun + Glue sticks
  5. Fabric

IMG_2991

Secondly, Assembly Process:

    1. Cut your fabric (we used Pinking Shears  (*not shown) to create a zig zag effect into various sized squares this will help you create that textured patchwork style and help fabric not fray)
    2. We used white fabric glue to adhere larger squares on the bottom to cover as much of the foam eggs as possible (see pic below)
    3. Then used glue gun to adhere smaller cut squared fabric on top (this made it easier as the fabric was getting bulkier.

IMG_2995

            4.  We then added some detail like a cross-stitch with some natural string. Pieces of string were cut and then hot glued on to look like cross-stitch this adds another creative detail to help finish off the style.

IMG_2997

Now that wasn’t so hard!  Was it?

and look what we created…

IMG_3035

If you have been a keeping up with our Blog Posts, you would have seen the recycled part of this new blog post.  Do you know what we are referring to?

Take a look at the pic below…

Can you guess what we used again?

One year ago we created our first Easter Blog Post called “Create an Easter and Spring Table Setting” go back and take a look because we show you how to make these sea grass nests that our Patchwork Home Decor Eggs are displayed in.

Spring has sprung and adding the details to your Interiors is what we love to do!

A Home Decor item gets some Love

Home Decor item gets some Love

What Home Decor item gets Love in different ways? and What does this have to do with Home Decor?

You just might be asking…

Keep reading below and enjoy the Love!

I have put together a series of photos using one decor item in different settings

(after all as you might know by now it’s always about the visuals here!)

My rationale for using this “standard home decor item”  was to show not only how one standard home decor item can be used in different ways, but to show how I can take the same item so it can be transformed to look different. Also, with the ability to work the item in different settings

It is called being…

VER-SA-TILE

ˈvərsədl/

adjective
{1.able to adapt or be adapted to many different functions or activities.}
“a versatile sewing machine”

something we are, here at C2-interiors.com!

Are you ready for the “Standard Home Decor Item” Photo unveiling ? (scroll down now)

IMG_2911

Did you guess what it was going to be? Ha, the infamous Mercury Vase it is!

Term Standard Home Decor Item- used to refer to a common household  home decor item which many people have in their homes, such as a vase.

After all,  we are coming off the Holiday Season and heading into Events, Reno’s, New Home Purchases and the Spring Season! Yes!!!!  I wanted to work with a little sparkle and glam because there sure has been quite a few grey days lately in our area, but any vase for that matter would have worked.

IMG_29381.  Here I used the Mercury Vase as a Candle holder. It is situated in the centre of our table to create ambiance and a focal point.

IMG_0606

2. In this picture our Home Decor item is styled and used as a vessel to house a Holiday inspired Potpourri.
IMG_2959

3.  Ok, Now we are talking!.. a tropical warm day and using our Home Decor (Mercury Vase) item as a water cooler.

Taking a standard home decor item and using it in different ways and settings not only does it make the vase look different, but it shows how something you have can be versatile.  It just takes Imagination, Creativity, and Ingenuity something we posses here at C2-interiors.com.

Speaking of Imagination, Creativity, and Ingenuity a year ago our first blog post was

How to Make an “OPEN HEART’ TASSEL?

We took some of  those tassels and used them in a different way in order to style our Sweetheart Table and send you a special message

LOVE is YOU!

It is already a year since I launched C2-interiors.com and began dabbling into the blogging world in my own “versatile” and unique way by designing, styling, staging, propping and photographing each blog picture as a visual of my versatility in the world of Interiors.  It is funny what a year can bring from new ventures to new memories, new beginnings, and new ideas, but the one key item most needed is LOVE!

Coffee for your Interiors?

What does that mean?…you must be asking yourself!

Well, if you have browsed through this site and actually read the “About” page (haven’t read it?, then highly recommended)

you would know that my Husband and I had a café in small town Ontario, Canada for several years.

Our café made me happy, but unfortunately at the wrong time in life and with too many unforeseen circumstances.

When the decision came to try and establish myself back into the working world, I needed something that was manageable from our rural location.   Getting back into the world of Interiors from Residential, Commercial, and Event Styling was the way to go! After all, I have experience in all three areas without the formal certification (like some top Designers out there).

I have been exposed to all three through my retail design and merchandising work.  The most recent projects for Interior Design and Styling work I had was our café, which was gutted back to the studs,  and our home (always a work in progress, see magazine features on “Home” page, if you haven’t seen or read them, also highly recommended).  The house was designed on a paper napkin (literally)  and executed from scratch ( just like the many recipes I like to come up with in our kitchen and used at our café).

I needed an outlet to be creative! (Blogging and Instagram are really filling that void)

It is who I am and what I love to do!  Life is too short and you must do what makes you happy (life long lesson).  With a few local interior projects under my belt and two major magazine features, the start of my dabbling into the world of interiors has begun.  I cannot lie, there is a lot of competition and a lot of designers/stylists out there and when your trying to rev up again after being out of the loop for sometime, it’s not easy!

Being the creative person that I am, and having an entrepreneurial side because of my retail background, and the fact that finding unique and one of a kind items for various interiors has played a big part of my life.  An  E-commerce Shop was the next step!

I am an artist at heart and love to create, paint, and design.  So to have my work on quality sourced, and locally made decor was always in the plan.

But…COFFEE! another void that needed to be filled because it was and is such an important part of life in our home.

We love our COFFEE! and I couldn’t give it up.

So here we are with branded C2-interiors.com Coffee for your interiors!
